Just a quick reminder that I’ll be Zoom chatting at 1:00 today with Chris Preble and Emma Ashford, who are both fellows at the Atlantic Council’s New American Engagement Initiative. We’ll be talking Russia, Ukraine, sanctions, NATO, what comes next, and how this war might end. If you have any topics or specific questions you’d like us to address, please leave them in the comments below.
Here’s a link, and I’ll see you at 1:00!
Here are a few things to read in advance:
Emma and Chris joined 75 other foreign policy scholars in signing an open letter warning against a no-fly-zone over Ukraine.
Read my latest in the New Republic on the risk that sanctions on Russia will be too successful.
The Institute for the Study of War offers its latest assessment on the state of the Ukraine war.
The Russian military is bearing a frightening toll two weeks into the war.
I was unable to link the submission where you made the statement about the current AG of SD, sorry about that. Nevertheless, you got an important part of the story wrong, and the Daily Beast headline is misleading. Mr. Ravnsborg did not make the statement, it was contained in an e-mail to him from an unnamed correspondent. He did kill a man, and leave him to die, but he did not gloat about his political affiliation.
