Just a quick reminder that I’ll be Zoom Chatting today at 12:45 PM with Helaine Olen. We’ll be talking about inflation, the state of the US economy, and we might spend a few minutes on the BFD that happened last night in the US House of Representatives — passage of the Build Back Better Act. There’s still a long way to go before this legislation becomes the law of the land. It will need to make it through the Senate and receive the blessing of the President of the United States … West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin. But passage in the House is a big deal and shows the level of Democratic unity around enacting Joe Biden’s domestic agenda. It also shows that this woman is one of the most significant legislative leaders in American history.
Also, I have a new piece out this morning for the New Republic on why fears of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan are vastly overblown. Not only does China lack the capabilities to invade Taiwan, but the political and economic risks are simply too great.
