Today's Truth and Consequences Zoom Chat with Jeffrey Lewis
Just a quick reminder that I’ll be Zoom Chatting today at 12:30 with Dr. Jeffrey Lewis. Jeff is one of the smartest and funniest foreign policy analysts that I know. We’ll be discussing Iran, Russia, North Korea, and whatever other foreign policy issues strike our fancy. This is one conversation you won’t want to miss. Here’s the link and look forward to seeing you later today!
Yesterday was Holocaust Remembrance Day, so I’m re-upping this piece I did last month on why the Holocaust is not a metaphor. There have been a few news stories in recent weeks that speak to the relevance of this argument!
What’s Going On
Speaking of metaphors … a bridge collapsed in Pittsburgh hours before President Biden was planning to visit the city to discuss infrastructure.
A school district in Tennessee is removing the book “Maus,” which is a graphic novel about the Holocaust, from the school’s curriculum because it contains nudity and profanity. This move reads more as prudishness than Holocaust denial, but it doesn’t make it any less offensive or idiotic.
This is not an endorsement because I haven’t read any counter-arguments to the piece, but this is an interesting argument on why kids should no longer be required to wear masks in schools.
Musical Interlude
Everyone in the Northeast stay safe out there this weekend!
