Dereliction of Duty is what they need to charge him with! When he saw the Capital being overtaken he did nothing! He violated his oath of office to defend the Constitution of the United States. He did not Tweet to the people storming the Capital to stop- he did not call for support of officers in the Capital to protect it- he let it be ransacked! That is dereliction of his duty as the President. He failed to follow his oath! Any Military personal who had done the same- sat back and watched National Monuments be destroyed would be tried for dereliction of duty!!

You write, "But the sad, infuriating, I want to throw my laptop out a window, part of it, is that none of it matters."

Sen. Durban states why it matters. ""If we do nothing else in this trial, I hope that we establish, once and for all, ... what actually occurred happened leading up to and on that day of Jan. 6, so that the revisionists don't have a chance to rewrite it." Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) to Judy Woodruff http://to.pbs.org/371jy0m "

I've long told people that Josh "The Empty Suit" Mandel – one of the most ethical bankrupt and sleaziest politicians here in Ohio — is Ohio's answer to Tom Cotton (or John Hawley) — a staggeringly dishonest and ruthlessly ambitious little weasel with no regard for truth or decency. I will do everything in my power to make sure he never gets near the senate. I pray we don't end up with a weak candidate like Tim Ryan or that whatever mysterious and hidden scandal caused Mandel to drop out of the 2018 surfaces and puts him out of the race.

If it all looks absurd to you, it looks a thousand times worse to those of us watching from other countries. It is like listening to the neighbours fight...you learn a lot you didn't know and soon attribute characteristics to the antagonists...unstable, violent etc. And that is what we are doing as we watch and listen to what is going on in America...attributing characteristics to your country and many of its occupants. The latter is unfair but when the scale of craziness is large enough, everyone gets painted with the same brush. For heaven's sake, Costa Rica now scores higher on the EIU democracy index than the USA!
