Deporting millions of undocumented migrants is motivated by racism, one of the very few core values that have motivated Trump forever. I think it motivates many Trump voters, too; along with the price of eggs.
Agree. This jumped out at me and I was about to commit on it.. Voters' perception of the economy was so skewed (by the mainstream media, largely) I think it hardly mattered what the price of eggs was. Trump voters were hyped up on hate; yes, they wanted all those "furriners" deported, they absolutely DID want to end "wokeness" which to them meant anyone not in their group getting anything, and yes, they DID want to punish all those people whom Trump had designated as their enemy. The economy had very little to do with GOP victories. I can attest to that here in Ohio in the Senate race where Bernie Moreno ran and won on "trans people are coming to molest your daughter" while Sherrod ran on expanding economic benefits for working people, a losing message. A study showed that people exposed to Moreno's anti-trans ads, which were constant, were more likely to vote for him. Trump was elected on a platform of discrimination and bigotry.
